Where I'm From

I am from warm rice and soft noodles,
Sweet mangos and juicy lychee.

I am from bright Taipei and cool Japan,
Sweet star fruit and crunchy Asian pears.

I am from big Asia and rattling rock collections,
small rocks and softly glowing fireflies.

I am from good schools and tall apartments,
clear rushing water and little crickets chirping.

I am from kind doctors and happy kids,
Old Kaohsiung and soft pineapple.

I am also from wonderful Seattle
and snowy Whistler,
warm Taiwan and the magnificent United States.
